“Simplicity and tradition.”
Every day you can taste the typical polenta of the hut, prepared over wood fire or grilled.
The hut is well known for this reason especially in Switzerland and that’s why lot of Swiss guests call the place “Polentahütte”, which means “the house of polenta”.
With polenta you can try the stew with mountain herbs, prepared following the “grandmother’s recipe”, sausages and the local cheese called “casera”, matured in the cellars to enrich the flavor.
If you are a dessert lover, don’t miss the homemade cake with buckwheat flour and blueberry jam. Then a good espresso is needed to end lunch and for getting ready to start again a new walk in the middle of nature.
Rifugio Viola also offers cold cuts (the most famous one in Valtellina is called “Bresaola”) and typical cheese platters, sandwiches and toast made of grilled polenta.
Typical menu: 17,00 € (still water, red wine and espresso are included in the price).
